Our
Story
Tucked into the apple orchards of Manali, Girnar Estate is not a hotel, a resort, or a boutique inn. It is a private heritage estate — a 25-year-old manor home, once the cherished residence of a distinguished Indian politician, now opened in its entirety for guests who seek something far beyond the ordinary.
The estate unfolds across an acre of living apple orchard, its trees older than the building itself, their roots as deep as the stories held within these walls. Two mirror-image private cottages — the Cedar Wing and the Orchard Wing — divide the property, each a complete 4-bedroom home unto itself. Book one wing for an intimate family retreat, or take over the full estate and make these eight rooms, this garden, this orchard, this sky, entirely your own.
Step inside and the home speaks for itself. The interiors are rooted in the Pahadi tradition — warm, unhurried, and built for mountain living. Bay windows in three of the rooms do not merely frame the view; they invite the mountains in. Thick walls hold the cold at bay. Rooms feel inhabited, not staged. Every corner of this house carries the quiet dignity of a home that has been genuinely loved.
Outside, the estate stretches generously. A lush garden leads into the orchard, where the light filters through apple branches and the silence is broken only by birdsong and the occasional whisper of wind from the Kullu Valley. The terrace above offers what may be the finest unobstructed view of the Himalayan ridgeline that Prini has to offer — the kind of view that makes clocks irrelevant.
Guests have access to an in-house vegetarian restaurant, preparing fresh meals without the need to step beyond the estate’s boundaries. This is a place where you can arrive, exhale, and simply be — in a home that has held a remarkable history, and now holds space for yours.
